The Commission has proposed a Temporary Decarbonisation Fund using 25 percent of CBAM revenues to support EU industry decarbonisation efforts in 2028-2029.
The Commission is planning to extend the CBAM to 180 aluminium and steel-intensive downstream products from January 2028.
The EU CBAM entered compliance phase on 1 January 2026, marking the first fully operational border carbon adjustment policy globally.
